Chemical compatibility:
When transmitting different fluids, the tube show certain chemical properties, called chemical compatibility. Such as: low adsorption, temperature resistance, not easy to aging, no swelling, corrosion resistance, low precipitation.
The resistance to chemical corrosion decreases with increasing temperature, and the chemicals that is effected to the tube may increase with room temperature
Impact.
Testing method:
When the compatibility of a certain liquid(and tube) is uncertain, it is necessary to do the immersion test: take a tube sample and record the weight, diameter and length.
Put the sample tube immersed in a sealed container with liquid , and soaked for 48 hours at least, take out the sample, clear it by water, dry it, hen, remeasure the weight, diameter and length, observe the change, and check if the tube is soft or brittle. If any, means the tube is
incompatible with the liquid. If no change, the tube is compatible with the liquid.
Pressure bearing:
The application of peristaltic pump is affected by the bearing pressure of the tube.
If the pressure reaches or exceeds the tube limit, the tube expands, causing excessive wear or rupture.
The factors affect the tube pressure: material, diameter and wall thickness.
Temperature:
A factor to be considered for tube adaptation for working temperature is, different materials have different temperature tolerance.
Size:
The size of the tube direct effect the flow rate, excellent pump design will consider the application of the inner wall of the tube and wall thickness, matching the best tube size, or tube number range. The inner diameter determines the size of the flow. The wall thickness determines the resilience and has a great influence on the tube life.
Certification:
Tube should be be certified for a certain applications. Such as the U.S Pharmacopoeia Standard EP, the U.S. Food and drug administration standards FDA, U.S. Department of agriculture standard USDA and national health foundation standard NSF.
Tube flexibility, elasticity and life:
The ability of different tube to resist repeated extrusion and friction is different. Different types of tube, tube material, pump head, running speed with different life。 The service life is called the flexible life in the pump system, in the specific application, the pump characteristic is very consistent. Choose long life, Thick wall tube, large flow pump, and running at a lower speed condition to get a longer life.
